Florida Vacation

So a little while back, we decided it was time to take a short family vacation down to Florida to enjoy the sun, sand, and inappropriately attired beach-goers. I do have my favorites, but the whole set can be viewed here (for the 2 or 3 readers I still have).

We went to the airport and waited for the shuttle, and Emma was pretty excited.

Which she did not hide at ALL, much to the chuckles of the other travelers.dsc_4757

Since the plane was taking soooooo long to unload, Emma decided that the best course of action would be to insist on reading approximately 3 dozen books.dsc_4781

Once we finally arrived, I had scheduled an adventure the next morning for us to go on a cool pirate cruise!dsc_4832

Unfortunately, Emma barfed in the care en route to the cruise, resulting in the immediate and necessary purchase of the tour shirt. Methinks someone may have done it on purpose because she wanted a souvenir. But I digress.dsc_4860

Someone was very proud of her acumen with the water cannon.dsc_4869

She was officially sworn in as a Bluefoot pirate.dsc_4883

Thusly, she was conscripted to protect all of us adults against the dread “other pirate” who attacked our boat and stole our treasure. All’s well that ends well, and she was awarded with a bag full of gold doubloons and gems.dsc_4904

We did some relaxing at the hotel pool and shared some lovely frozen drinks to cool off from the super-heated, ridiculously humid environs.dsc_4931

We also managed to go on an airboat to see the Everglades and manged to catch a close (too close?) view of some of the area wildlife.dsc_5163

Emma was unsure how she felt about all of it.dsc_5187

Either way, we survived and can mark that one off of our lists.

Finally, we hit the beach one last time and Emma enjoyed digging with her new shovel while I enjoyed the shade and doing nothing much at all.

All in all, we really had a lovely time in Florida, “America’s Weiner”.

Once Upon a Time in Charlotte…

For whatever reason, we decided to take a short family vacation to Charlotte (before they started being total jerks). We got a house on the lake, we went boating, we went to a children’s museum, and we visited a drive-thru zoo. It was a nice, relaxing way to spend a few days.  Here are my (way too many) favorite shots, but all of them can be found here.

2015 Mishmash

Prepare yourself – this post will be chock-full of a total mishmash of 2015 photos. Frankly, I don’t have the patience to go back and post things in order and a little at a time anymore. I wanna get to recent stuff, darn it! So, here are enough events and photos to blow your face off – in no particular order.

Liberty Tower (all found here)

Once in a great while, photographers get the unique opportunity to shoot somewhere that cameras normally are not allowed. This is one of those times: Liberty Tower, located in downtown Dayton, has been around since the 30’s and is a very architecturally unique building in the Art Deco style.

Mackinac Island (all found here)

Keith and I managed to escape, child-free, for a trip to Mackinac Island. It was glorious. We relaxed, we biked, we walked, and we generally enjoyed time away from being responsible.

A family affair (here, here, here, here, and here)

The End of 2015. Thanks, and come again. 🙂

Cruisin’

In the summer of 2014, our little family boarded a plane, a bus, and then a boat in order to travel the high seas; we hit Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. We hung out on the boat, we went to a turtle sanctuary, the Tortuga Rum outlet, a placed called Hell, and had lots of family time. We sailed Carnival Freedom and had an amazing experience while getting away from the real world for awhile. I took an unimaginable amount of photos, but I can only post so many – so the rest are on my SmugMug page.

Meeting Blake

On March 11, 2014, Mister Blake came into this world and made my brother a 4th time Dad; now that there was another little Griesser man to contend with, we were all feeling both excited and terrified. Hopefully, he will take after his mother. 🙂 Because I couldn’t justify using my flash, I had to embrace the noise. Here are a few that I love, and the rest can all be seen here.

First visit:

After this most awesome of visits, it was a little while before we got to come hang out again. But when we did, little Mister Blake had done quite a lot of changing (as babies are wont to do). I’m including a few of the ones I love the most, but as always, I uploaded the entire batch on my SmugMug.

Hocking Hills

I have a friend. I’ve had this friend in my life for quite some time. I was there the day she got married, she was part of my wedding, and she has been a very strong support to me over the years. So when her husband asked for my help in planning a little surprise for her, I was more than happy to oblige. So we planned a surprise weekend in Hocking Hills, where Keith and I just showed up and surprised her on Friday evening. We had a fantastic time, the scenery was gorgeous, and I kind of wish we could do it again every weekend. Here are some of my favorite shots, and as always, the rest can be seen here.

Cousins

Emma has cousins. In fact, she has a much older cousin (Tay), a cousin about a year older (Paige), one about a year younger (Peyton), and the girls love each other. I took Em up to visit them a couple of weekends ago, and she had a ball running around the backyard and splashing in the wading pool with Rampaige.  Just a few cute shots to share, the rest are here.
